Hon. Elspeth B. Cypher (ret.) served as an Associate Justice on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court from 2017 until January 2024. She served on the Massachusetts Appeals Court from 2000 to 2017. She received a B.A. from Emerson College in 1980 and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1986, where she served on the Suffolk University Law Review. She worked in a small general practice and as prosecutor. She has extensive teaching experience, most recently as the Huber Distinguished Visiting Professor at Boston College Law School. She is a frequent panelist for the National Cybercrime Conference. She is the current author of the Massachusetts Practice Series, Criminal Practice and Procedure, Volumes 30, 30A, and 30B.
The seminar will run from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The cost for this seminar will be $200.00 per person.
How has Massachusetts law changed after the Supreme Court’s Second Amendment rulings in Heller, McDonald, Bruen, and Rahimi? What does the Second Amendment say? What are recent or new challenges to searches and convictions? Update and discussion of cases relevant to Massachusetts firearms statutes, General Laws chapter 140 § 121 through 131X. We will examine the Red Flag Law and Ghost Guns. What other “arms” are protected by the Second Amendment?
