Course Description
Unfortunately, law enforcement’s role in addressing mental health concerns of our society has grown tremendously over the last 20 years. Fortunately, to counter that responsibility, law enforcement is much more versed and trained to respond to calls where a person is in a mental health crisis or suffering from a mental health condition. Response to mental health calls is governed primarily by statutory laws, defined by case law, and intimately connected to the medical professional field, and its many associated disciplines and specialties. All dispatchers could benefit from a better understanding of the many moving parts of a mental health call or situation, and this class aims to provide that knowledge.
