Dispatchers are often the very first contact in these highly emotionally charged situations. This course will provide dispatchers, first responders, and fire/EMS personnel involved in responding to crisis and barricaded subject calls with skills to effectively communicate and de-escalate the situation. We will provide you with a basic understanding of scene response, communication methods, de-escalation skills, intelligence gathering, roles and responsibilities during crisis negotiations. We will also discuss how to identify possible red flag high risk behaviors and statements the subject may take.
